Experience Zwolle


Imagine this: each and every day hundreds of people visit Zwolle for the first time in their lives. They all have different approaches and expectations and will have their initial taste of Zwolle. I can remember very well how that feels, since only ten years ago I was a newcomer to the city. I came to live and work here and really had to discover Zwolle. That went quickly. Due to my being mayor, I visit many places and encounter numerous people from Zwolle.

So, from my own experience I can assure you that Zwolle is a great place to be. Dynamic and cosy. But also with very quiet and green areas, like the many parks, the walkways around the city’s canals and a beautiful green environment at close range. Zwolle can also be enjoyed from the water, since the city is framed by the IJssel, Vecht and Zwarte Water rivers. After ten years I still get surprised regularly, noting what one can see, do and encounter. That’s why I enjoy telling you why being in Zwolle is so pleasant. Whether you want to have a culinary treat, to see a recently discovered Van Gogh, go on a shopping trip or participate in one of the many events, Zwolle is always hospitable.
